Should I use resistance bands or weights for arthritis?

Resistance bands are gentler on joints, easier to modify, portable and cheap — the standard NHS/physio recommendation for starting strength work with arthritis. Free weights and machines allow heavier loading and are excellent as you progress. Both build the muscle strength that protects joints; start with bands and add weights as confidence grows.
